About us

Nuffield Health is Britain’s largest healthcare charity with over 50 years experience. We’re in an enviably strong financial position, allowing us to reinvest our surplus back into the care of patients. Our holistic vision of helping the nation to get healthy and stay that way is supported by a wide spectrum of healthcare from prevention to cure. Our 30 hospitals provide acute care across a number of surgical and medical specialities, and we pride ourselves on our standards of quality and safety.

Pharmacy in Nuffield Health

Whether you join us in a pharmacy management, pharmacist or technician role, you will play an active part in your particular hospital’s success. Pharmacy plays a vital role in leading on the safe and effective use of medicines and supports the Hospital Matron in the highest standards of medicines governance and the Hospital Manager in implementing best practice standards for controlled drug management. You’ll also benefit from the professional leadership provided by the Superintendent Pharmacist’s office, and you’ll be part of the wider pharmacy team acrossthe Group.

About our Pharmacist Roles

You will be supported by a pharmacy manager and have a key role in delivering high quality clinically focused, nearpatient, medicines management services to a range of departments and participating in ward pharmacy rounds with doctors. You will work as part of the wider multidisciplinary team within the hospital and will feel the benefit from processes that fully integrate medicines into the personalised pathway of care for our patients. You need to enjoy working with a variety of clinical staff and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Your training plan will be developed according to your needs and the needs and specialities within the hospital [e.g. oncology].

About our Technician Roles

Our pharmacy technicians [NVQ3] play a vital role in ensuring a robust audit trail of medicines is maintained from procurement and selection through to distribution and dispensing. Working closely with Theatre and Ward Managers, as well as other Heads of Departments you will support the cost effective stock management throughout the hospital. As with all roles in our small friendly hospitals the care shown to our patients is of paramount importance and we welcome applicants who enjoy focusing on the patient needs. If you are not already registered as a technician, we will help you make the transition to registered status. Your training plan will be developed according to your needs and the needs and specialities within the hospital.
